Have you ever found yourself visualizing and intending something that you really want and then as that desire manifests and it’s wonderful and amazing, you start panicking and wondering when the other shoe will drop? This is really common in manifesting our desires and there’s a good reason for it.
When you visualized or intended, you did so at a certain energy vibration. Say you wanted a brand new sportscar. You clipped out an image and posted it up on your vision board. As you did that, you became heightened to that image—or at least your energy did. We all have unique energetic signatures that can make and yes, break the manifestations of our desires.
Fast forward a year later. That same image of the car is still up on your vision board. You don’t have the car, yet your happy go lucky friend who posted an image of the car she wanted on her vision board, is happily driving hers around town. You’re probably annoyed and frustrated now because that car has not manifested in your life. Now, during the course of that year, were you in a heightened positive feeling state for most of your days? Or did you find yourself succumbing to the pressures of everyday life, sometimes worrying about your job or your bills or something else aggravating you?
The truth of the matter is that the Universe loves speed, but we often muck things up by our untrained thoughts. We slow the process with negativity, with worry, with doubt about how and when it will happen. When we are able to let go and enter a positive, high-energy state, movement begins and starts speeding toward manifestation.
So, what if you know all that—it’s pretty basic, right? Just feel good and your manifestations will come to fruition. Yes and no. Let’s go back to the car example. Let’s say that you find the car, it happens to be on the lot during a sale that the dealership is having and you look in your bank account and realize you really can afford it. You want to go down to the dealership and buy it, but something in you stops you. That small voice inside (you inner critic, or your ego) starts nagging you that laundry is more important, or calling a friend back or… the list can go on and on. And boom, you find yourself sitting on the couch at nine p.m., no car and nothing to show for your day. What happened? You braced for the worst to happen.
Bracing is a way our ego tries to protect us from the inevitable gloom and doom that doesn’t exist. The ego lives in the past and uses only that to gauge your future results, which is a completely fallacy. The past should remain exactly that—in the past. It does not determine your future outcome unless you let it. The only reality that exists is the present moment. And the present is filled with opportunity. You can create what you want from the present moment.
Once you can tame that inner critic and kindly tell them to back off, you’ll find an ease and grace in everything you do. The present is our greatest gift. If you can make the energetic investment to be solely in that moment, the ego loses its power and your ability to align to your manifestation goes back online.
Being able to thwart resistance and stay fully present in the moment is the key. This can speed up the process of you witnessing your manifestation firsthand, leave the bracing behind and step into possibility.
What has your experience been with manifestation or the lack of it? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
